Freshers T-Shirt Party
The First big SKUM event of the year kicks things off in stereotypical SKUM style, and begins the year as we mean to go on. The T-shirt party provides the perfect chance to get to know your fellow members, both new and old (or in Bellamy and Sam’s case, the really old) over a fair few beverages to say the least. As its fresher’s week it’s the perfect opportunity to get loose in a manner that only SKUM can, whilst completing the notorious Sku-Do-List with the assistance of your new associates. Definitely a night to remember, or forget!
Weekly Socials
Every Tuesday the gang (or army, to be realistic) take over the upstairs in Revolutions in the Fields of Fallow for a good old fashioned catch up and knees up. Many a heroic story has come from our infamous Socials, as when the Jagertrain comes into town everyone climbs aboard, and quite a few ‘quiet ones’ have escalated into a night not soon forgotten. The perfect time and place to flex with friends or make new ones, as well as learning the SKUM ropes!
Sheffield Sundays
Our jaunts down the road to Sheffield’s Ski Village synergise Skiing and Apres in a way that SKUM is world renowned for. The perfect way to spend an otherwise boring Sunday, by shredding down a slope with steeze followed by a sneaky pint or six with your fellow SKUMers before things descend into debauchery. No Sheffield Sunday is complete without textbook drinking games, assault courses, and general tomfoolery combining to make the ultimate bonding sesh.
Christmas Snowball – Social
The crown on semester ones social calendar is without a doubt the Skum Snowball. For one night only we show Manchester how it’s done, by scrubbing up and looking fresh to death in our smart attire. SKUM do it big (like always) and put on a decadent spread, with classy beverages to boot, ensuring a night of elegant messyness to the soundtrack of Manchesters biggest and best superstar Dee Jays. Make sure you keep on your toes though, as many a penny and ping pong ball will find their way into your glass!
Curry Nights
The cornerstone of every Manchester student’s existence is, without a doubt, cheap booze and cheap curry. This glorious combination always yields fantastic results, with epic tales that songs could and should be written about, and tales to tell your descendants. Probably wise to leave out the parts associated with nudity though, even though they’re definitely the best bits. All in all SKUM socials are the cornerstone of any weeks evening entertainment, regardless of whether you’re a diehard member or new to the club, every life lover is welcome aboard the banter bus, so get involved!
All in all, SKUM socials are something for everyone not only for members but anyone loving life and willing to hop on board the banter bus and take a look at a whole new side of snowsports.
